Monroe Takes to the AirwavesDecember 01, 2009
The latest in our public information tools will be available to Township Comcast Cable subscribers, as we launch Channel 28 in an effort to keep our residents informed as to what is going on in Monroe. As part of the Township’s cable franchising agreement with Comcast, Channel 28 was designated an educational and governmental access channel. The station’s studio is constructed in the current high school on Perrineville Road, by Telemeasurements Inc. who installed all of the broadcasting equipment that was purchased using a franchise renewal grant from Comcast Cable. The studio will be used to not only send the signal to Comcast Subscribers but, will also be web streamed. An oversight committee composed Township and School officials will determine and set policies regarding use of the channel. The station will not be used for public access, commercial programming, political programming and advertising. It will only be used to inform residents what is going on in town and it will also allow residents that are home-ridden to see highlights of special Township and School events.
