Township of Monroe

Shade Tree Commission

The Shade Tree Commission regulates the planning and care of ornamental trees and shrubbery within the Right of Way (R.O.W.) and parks in the Township. The Commission also has a proactive pruning, removal, and planting program.

Developers are required to receive permission before cutting down trees on future developments. The landscape plans from developers are reviewed, and recommendations are made by the Shade Tree Commission.

The commission offers expert advice on all facets of arborculture. The Commission also will remove or require removal of any tree deemed dangerous to public safety.

Meetings: These meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of February, April, June, August, October and December. Meetings are held in the conference room of the municipal building.

Please check the Township's monthly calendar for meeting schedule changes.
