SURVIVORS OF COVID-19: N.J. HOSPITAL WANTS TO TEST YOUR BLOOD FOR POTENTIAL LIFE-SAVING THERAPY: The plasma of COVID-19 patients could be a life-saving treatment for others. Hackensack University Medical Center has received approval from the federal government to begin recruiting recovered and recovering coronavirus patients to test for antibodies in their plasma, the liquid component in blood. NJ DEPARTMENT OF LABOR MESSAGE: Crushing layoffs and furloughs related to the #COVID19 crisis have overwhelmed unemployment agencies nationwide-including here in the Garden State.

CDC RECOMMENDS FACE COVERING: It is critical to emphasize that maintaining 6-feet social distancing remains important to slowing the spread of the virus.  CDC is additionally advising the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure.  Click the attached link to see how to fashion a simple mask at home: https://youtu.be/tPx1yqvJgf4

MONROE TOWNSHIP TESTING SITE:  COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU TESTING SITE IN MONROE TWP at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road:  The facility will serve pre-registered patients only from 9am – 1pm and drive-up patients from 1pm – 3:30pm.  Testing will continue on Tuesday, April 7.  Pre-register at www.myinstadocmonroe.comor call 609-207-3220 to speak with a medical professional.

MESSAGE FROM MONROE TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT

PLEASE BE ON THE LOOKOUT:

The Monroe Police Department is asking for assistance in identifying an individual who is a suspect in the disappearance of thousands of eggs from Stop and Shop supermarket and other food stores throughout our Township. The suspect is described as having white fluffy fur and long droopy ears. The perpetrator was last seen near Prospect Plains and Perrineville Road.  

Police interception of text messages reveal that the suspect will be in the area through next Sunday.  Please do not try to apprehend this individual as it is suspected he is armed with baskets, eggs and candy. He is considered to be extremely fun and friendly. If you see him, just wave back.  If you can take pictures with your cell phone and send them to skennedy@monroetwp.com so the Township can identify the culprit.  Thank you for assisting law enforcement in this most serious situation.
