39 NEW COVID-19 CASES IN MONROE TOWNSHIP GOVERNOR MURPHY ISSUES EXECUTIVE ORDER PROVIDING GRACE PERIOD FOR INSURANCE PREMIUMS

LATEST STATE/COUNTY UPDATES:  

US: Cases confirmed 455,243; Recovered 24,723; Deaths 16,191

State:New positive cases 3,748; Total cases statewide 51,027; Total Deaths 1,700 

Middlesex County (from Governor’s Daily Report):New positive cases 472; Total cases countywide 4,628; Total Deaths 152. 

Monroe Township:New positive cases 39; Total municipal cases 213.

NJDOH STATISTICS:  

  • There currently are 7,363 hospitalizations, including COVID-19 positive patients and persons under investigation
  • 1,523 individuals are in intensive care. 1,551 individuals are on ventilators
  • Over the past 24 hours, 471 discharged from hospital and returned home
  • 100,478 tests performed – 44.11% positivity rate

Health Commissioner Persichilli says according to modeling from the state's innovation center, the peak of the state's COVID-19 outbreak could arrive within two to three days, resulting in 14,400 hospitalizations and 2,880 critical care cases.

EXECUTIVE ORDER FROM GOVERNOR MURPHY ISSUED TODAY, APRIL 9:   Governor Murphy signed an Executive Order today that extends the grace period for residents who may be unable to pay their insurance premiums because of the financial hardship caused by COVID-19.  

This executive order provides:

  1. Minimum 60-day grace periodfor health and dental insurancepolicies and 
  2. 90-day gracefor home and auto insurance, renters insurance, life insurance, insurance premium-financingarrangements and more.

All claims covered by the insurance policy must be paid out to those who are within these grace periods.  Read the full NJ.com article here.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY OPENING SECOND COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU TESTING SITE ON FRIDAY, APRIL 10:  South Brunswick Site Open to Middlesex County residents by appointment.  The site opens April 10 at New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Inspection Station, 2236 Route 130 North, Dayton. The test site will be open from 10 am to 2 pm on Friday, April 10, Monday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 15.  Appointments will only be made beginning 10 am the day prior to a testing day.  Appointment booking for the Monday, April 13 testing day will take place on Saturday, April 11 at 10 am due to the Easter holiday.  Visit www.Middlesexcountynj.gov/COVID19testing to register and receive a time to report to the testing site.  

SECOND FIELD HOSPITAL EXPECTED TO OPEN SATURDAY IN EDISON: As traditional hospitals deal with increasing strain from the coronavirus outbreak, a second pop-up field hospital to help with the overflow of patients in New Jersey is expected to begin accepting patients Saturday in Edison.  Governor Murphy toured the 500-bed facility at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center on Wednesday as the Garden State prepares for its peak number of cases in the coming weeks.  Read the full NJ.com article here.
