PHASE 1A OF THE NEW JERSEY COVID-19 VACCINATION PLAN UNDERWAY IN MONROE TOWNSHIP
The NJ Department of Health, through CVS and Walgreens, this week began vaccinating residents and staff at long-term care facilities across the state, including Monroe Township. Pictured above: Rosaria Crivello, 88, a resident at Monroe Village Point Rehab center, received her COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 1A of the state’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program that will continue over the next month.
Monroe Township EMS members also have been receiving their COVID-19 vaccines as part of Phase 1A that now includes healthcare personnel, long-term care residents and staff and police and fire department professionals. NJ LAUNCHES STATE-WIDE VACCINE SCHEDULING SYSTEM (NJVSS): New Jersey is rolling-out COVID-19 vaccines in a phased approach and has launched the NJVSS system. The site allows people to pre-register even if you are not currently eligible. You will be asked questions to determine when you are eligible to receive a vaccination. Currently, the state is only vaccinating those classified as Phase 1A. After you supply the requested information, if you are not currently eligible, you will receive a message saying you will get an email when it’s your turn to schedule an appointment. CURRENT STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:
- 5,028 new COVID-19 positive cases in NJ reported January 6.
- 3,744 COVID-19 patients in NJ hospitals as of January 5.
- 668 individuals in critical care; 68% on ventilators; 456 in use.
- Daily percent positivity for January 6: 14.96%.
- Transmission rate: .96
- “NJ will not wait for everyone in one phase of COVID vaccine to be vaccinated before opening up vaccination to the next phase,” said NJDOH Commissioner, Judith Persichilli.
