BUS DRIVER (Full-Time) - DIVISION ON AGING / OFFICE OF SENIOR SERVICES - TRANSPORTATION DIVISION
General Description:
Under direction of the Director and Transportation Manager, operates a light duty passenger bus; carries out pickup and/or delivery of passenger assignments including trips and other services. This position requires strong communication skills. Responsible for greeting and welcoming passengers with the ability to communicate courteously and effectively. Performs other related duties as required.

Duties May Include But Are Not Limited To:
· Shall perform maintenance checks to ensure that bus/van and other transportation equipment are in good working order including fueling of vehicles;
· Shall drive vehicle assigned to provide transportation as required;
· Must keep accurate records of mileage, gas and other records as appropriate and necessary for runs;
· Expected to spend five (5) to six (6) hours driving during the normal work day;
· May be asked to assist with phones, reports, people contact, etc.;
· May be required to work overtime as necessary to meet operational needs;
· Performs other related duties as assigned/required.

· Ability to deal effectively and patiently with the general public (primarily older adults), other Township employees, including management and municipal officials in a pleasant, tactful, professional and efficient manner;
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to function efficiently within a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment;
· Ability to understand, remember and carry-out oral and written directions;
· Ability to follow policies and procedures, including safety precautions, and to report potentially hazardous conditions;
· Good time management skills;
· Ability to work additional hours when required to cover operational needs;
· Ability to function under pressure such as time limitations or intense public interest;
· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships;
· Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
· Ability to spend five (5) to six (6) hours driving during the normal work day;
· Must be capable of putting a wheel chair onto lift of the bus. Weight of wheelchair and occupant can vary from 100lbs to 175lbs;
· Ability to bend down and secure all restraints when securing occupant in the bus;
· Ability to fold and lift all walkers onto the bus. Weight of walkers can vary from 5lbs to 20lbs;
· Ability to drive / perform duties in adverse weather conditions.
LICENSE AND EXPERIENCE:
· Valid NJ Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger Bus Endorsement;
· Minimum one (1) year bus driving experience.
Must be 18 years of age or older and reside in New Jersey unless otherwise exempted by law. Successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, background / reference check and motor vehicle record check, including DOT D&A Clearinghouse.

Wages:
$57,235.00 / Pursuant to applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Step 1. All other benefits pursuant to USWU White Collar CBA.
