Message from Mayor Dalina - Vandalism at Congregation Etz Chaim
Message from Mayor Dalina
I want to make the community aware that the Monroe police are investigating an act of graffiti that occurred overnight at Congregation Etz Chaim – Monroe Township Jewish Center on Cornell Avenue.
Offensive language was spray painted on the building. We must proclaim that vandalism, of any sort, is completely unacceptable in our community and will not be tolerated.
I spoke with Rabbi Shmuel Polin this morning to discuss how the Monroe police are squarely focused on finding the culprits.
This morning, firefighters washed the messages from the synagogue to make them unreadable. Two of the messages were written on reflective tape and were easily removed.
Police believe this vandalism was done by juveniles; and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Jake O’Brien at 732-521-0222 ext. 124.
This is a raw time; the world is very small at the moment. Again, we must proclaim that any offensive/hateful vandalism is completely unacceptable in our community.
Mayor Stephen Dalina
