442 NEW COVID-19 CASES IN NEW JERSEY NJ TOTAL IS NOW 1,327

LATEST STATE/COUNTY UPDATES:  The latest statistics related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus from Governor Murphy’s office this afternoon includes 442 new positive test results in New Jersey for a statewide total of 1,327.  Middlesex County reports 40 new cases for a total of 116 positive cases, second largest total in the State.  Monroe currently has seven positive cases, including the four from yesterday.

MAYOR TAMBURRO THANKS ALL ESSENTIAL FRONT-LINE WORKERS:           “On behalf of the Monroe Community, I would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and medical workers --- all the grocery store employees, pharmacy employees, truck drivers, and “ALL” of the essential employees working to get us through this crisis,” said Mayor Tamburro.  “Special thanks to our first responders as well. This fight is long from over, but these are our community heroes and we all grateful for their dedication and sacrifice each day.”

GOVERNOR MURPHY CLOSES ALL NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES; CANCELES ALL GATHERINGS EFFECTIVE 9PM TONIGHT: Effective 9:00 PM tonight, Governor Murphy directed the closure of all non-essential retail businesses until the current emergency ends. He further cancelled all gatherings and ordered nearly all residents to STAY AT HOME.  

The following businesses will remain open:  grocery, pharmacies, medical supply stores, auto mechanics and repairs, convenience stores, banks, hardware, laundromats, pet stores, mail and delivery shops, restaurants, liquor stores and bars (takeout only).  Hospitals and health care facilities will remain open.  Essential public health, safety, and social services will remain accessible.

"We can no longer maintain a sense of business as usual," Governor Murphy said.  “If you do go out you must practice social distancing while you are out. Unless you are not needed in response efforts, you are needed to stay home.”

COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU TESTING SITE IN MONROE TWP at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road:  TESTING AVAILABLE SUNDAY 9AM-5PM, TUESDAY 9AM-5PM, THURSDAY 9AM-5PM.  PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED – Limited availability and those without appointments must wait in line. The MyInstaDoc facility located at 298 Applegarth Road is testing patients for Coronavirus.  Patients must have COVID-19 symptoms, including fever, or have been exposed to an infected person.  Pre-register at www.myinstadocmonroe.com or call 609-207-3220 to speak with a medical professional.     

CALLING VOLUNTEERS AGE 18-55:  The Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management is compiling a list of volunteers to help deliver food and necessities to Monroe Township homebound residents in the event the Coronavirus emergency becomes even more severe.
