STATE HEALTH COMMISSIONER INFO:

  • Currently 7,017 hospitalizations in New Jersey, including COVID-19 positive patients and persons under investigations.
  • 1,651 individuals are in critical care. 94% of those individuals (1,540 individuals) are on ventilators.

COVID-19 IN LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES :  Half of New Jersey’s 375 long-term care facilities have at least one resident who has tested positive for the coronavirus, and the state is planning to implement a statewide coordinated response to help those facilities, state Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said Tuesday. See NJ.com article here.

GOVERNOR MURPHY CLOSES ALL STATE AND COUNTY PARKS EFFECTIVE 8PM TONIGHT; EXTENDS PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY BY 30 DAYS: Effective 8:00 PM tonight, Governor Murphy directed the closure of all state parks and forests and county parks per Executive Order 118 in an effort to further social distancing.  “We’ve seen far too many instances in our parks where people are gathering and socializing in groups,” said Governor Murphy.  “I do not take this action lightly. Some of my fondest memories with my own children are beautiful spring days in parks playing soccer and enjoying our family.  But my focus, and my sole mission in life right now, is the health of every New Jersey family.” He further signed today an Executive Order extending the public health emergency by 30 days.

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TAMBURRO: As a reminder, religious services are not exemptfrom the Governor’s stay at home order.  Again, as difficult as that may be, especially during Easter and Passover season, it’s just not an option this week to get together with others.

To be clear, this means no group dinners with neighbors. It means ensuring that our children know the rules and refrain from gathering together outside, no matter how nice the weather is.  And today, with the Governor’s new Executive Order 118, we cannot allow people to congregate in parks, which unfortunately has been too common over the past several days.  Our municipal parks also will be closed temporarily.

Feel free to go for a walk, ride your bike, sit outside in your yard or do some gardening.  But please refrain from contact with those outside your current household. Monroe is only as strong as those who follow this guidance.  We are all impacted when residents don’t follow the rules and I appreciate your continued cooperation as we fight this extraordinary health crisis.

DO YOU NEED TO BE TESTED?  COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU THURSDAY, APRIL 9 at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road:  The facility will serve pre-registered patients only from 9am – 1pm and drive-up patients from 1pm – 3:30pm.  Testing will continue on Saturday, April 11.  Pre-register at www.myinstadocmonroe.comor call 609-207-3220 to speak with a medical professional.

GOVERNOR MURPHY COLLABORATING WITH NY & CT GOVERNORS:  “This morning I connected with Governor Ned Lamont (Connecticut) and Governor Andrew Cuomo,” Governor Murphy said. “While we are not there yet, we discussed a regional approach to testing, tracking, and the reopening of businesses and schools, and potentially a regional approach to mobilizing resources for when COVID-19 comes back.” Read northjersey.com article here.
