DISTRIBUTING CRITICAL PPE TO LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES:  

“New Jersey Office of Emergency Management has now distributed more than 42.6 million pieces of PPE – a milestone in our efforts to ensure that our front-line health care workers and first responders have the PPE they need to do their jobs,” said Governor Murphy.  

This morning, Monroe Township Police delivered thousands of pieces of PPE from the state supplies to all Monroe Township long-term care facilities.

5144GOVERNOR MURPHY OPENS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BEACHES WITH RESTRICTIONS EFFECTIVE MAY 22:  Beaches along the Jersey Shore and lakes will be open with some restrictions this summer as the state continues to grapple with the coronavirus outbreak as Memorial Day weekend nears, Gov. Phil Murphy announced Thursday.  Beaches and lakefronts must limit the amount of people given access so people can practice social distancing. Families and households are allowed to cluster together, but otherwise people need to be six feet apart.  Read the full NJ.com article here.

STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:  

  • As of last night:3,958 residents hospitalized for COVID-19 – decline of 51% from peak.Field medical stations reported 35 patients.
  • 171 new hospitalizations yesterday and 366 patients were discharged from the hospital.
  • The Governor reported today that new hospitalizations are down nearly 2/3, total hospitalizations down by roughly 1/2 and patients in ICU and on ventilators have dropped significantly.
  • 1,157 patients in either critical or intensive care, 898 ventilators currently in use.
  • 78% of ICU patients are on ventilators.
  • 525 LTC facilities with COVID-19 cases; 27,153 COVID-19 cases in these facilities.
  • For tests from May 10th, the daily positivity rate remained at 22 percent.
  • “We are not out of the woods yet. We can make the cast that, at this moment in time, we’re the most-impacted state in the region,” said Governor Murphy.“This is why we need to keep up with social distancing, even as we begin our restart and recovery.”
  • According to Governor Murphy, the federal Veterans Administration is providing five, 10-person Health Care Strike Teams who will join the staffs at some of NJ’s long-term care facilities until June 30th. They are expected to be in-state by the end of this week.
  • Governor Murphy directed the reopening of restroom facilities at our parks, so long as they undergo frequent and proper cleaning.
