Two additional positive cases (one long-term care and one community-wide) reported today were from May 14. 

New COVID-19 Cases from August 20 – 24th:  20F, 49F, 61M

STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS: 

  • NJ hospitals currently have 227 patients being treated for COVID-19.
  • 66 patients in either critical or intensive care; 27 ventilators in use; 40% on ventilators.
  • The daily spot positivity rate for tests from August 20 was 1.33%. Rate of transmission: .85
  • Keep social distance. Wear your masks.  Keep washing your hands regularly.  Cooperate with contact tracers.    

NJ REPORTS 225 NEW CORONAVIRUS CASES, 3 DEATHS.  RATE OF TRANSMISSION FALLS AGAIN, REMAINS BELOW KEY BENCHMARK:  New Jersey health officials reported 225 new coronavirus cases on Monday and three additional deaths as the rate of transmission, which indicates whether the outbreak is expanding or declining, fell for the third consecutive day and remains below the key benchmark of 1.  The latest update brings the Garden State death toll to 15,949 with 14,120 confirmed and 1,829 probable fatalities - second highest in the United States. MAYOR ASKS GOVERNOR TO FUND PROPERTY TAX RELIEF AND SCHOOL FUNDING FOR FY2021 STATE BUDGET:  Mayor Tamburro issued a letter to Governor Murphy today asking that he and legislative leaders fund Homestead Rebate, Senior Freeze Program and school funding for the FY2021 State budget.  Governor Murphy will address his revised budget plans on Tuesday for the coming fiscal year.  Visit https://www.monroetwp.com/index.php/news to view the letter.
