Message From Mayor Tamburro:
Over a month, that’s how long it has been since we announced our first cases and we issued our first daily update. While we don’t have the individual recovery details, we hope that many of those who have been ill are now well on the road to recovery. The Monroe community is rooting for you!
In this same month, everything about our lives has changed. We have started working and learning from home, waiting in line at the grocery store and most of our favorite places are closed. We have started wearing masks when we leave the house. We are conducting our business meetings and family communications online.
None of this is easy. It isn’t easy for any of us to stay at home. But it is necessary to do so until we truly break the cycle. So, I will repeat the message…stay at home, except for essential travel, which should be limited as much as possible. No gatherings or parties, no group meetings or park visits.
Please know, this is just temporary. I don’t make any decisions hastily and without good reason. I, along with the OEM and my staff, make decisions with the best interest of the community in mind. We need to come through this together, stronger than ever. We are MONROE!

COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU SATURDAY, APRIL 18 at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road: The facility will serve pre-registered patients only from 9am – 1pm and drive-up patients from 1pm – 3:30pm. STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:
- 8,878 COVID patients and Persons Under Investigation have been discharged since March 31.
- Between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 10 p.m. Thursday, 787 residents with the virus or under investigation for it were discharged from New Jersey hospitals.
- New Jersey Office of Attorney General will begin issuing temporary emergency licenses to foreign-licensed physicians.
- 8,011 people are hospitalized with the virus or suspicion of it. Of those, 1,961 are in critical care and 1,594 on ventilators.
- 82% of those in the ICU are on ventilators. A few days ago, the rate was hovering at 97%.
- A total of 168 individuals have been served at field medical stations throughout the state. 79 have been successfully discharged.
- 143,450 tests performed, positivity rate is 44.94%
NJ DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ANNOUNCES NURSING HOME COVID-19 RELATED DEATHS: During New Jersey’s daily coronavirus press briefing in Trenton, state Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said as of Friday, there have been at least 9,094 cases and 1,530 deaths within the 384 of the state’s long-term care facilities reporting at least one positive COVID-19 case. - Middlesex County has 35 long-term care facilities reporting 832 cases and 162 deaths.
- 111 long-term care facilities are no longer admitting residents
