Re: COVID-19 Coronavirus Impact Monroe Township, Middlesex County

Dear Governor Murphy and Freeholder Director Rios:

The potential of an outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in New Jersey has caused a significant public health concern. The CDC reports, there is increased concern for people with compromised immunity and advanced age. I am concerned that Monroe Township could be significantly impacted by the Coronavirus because of our large senior community. I ask that you carefully consider this unique demographic and allocate appropriate resources should this hit NJ in the coming days.

Mayor Tamburro to Launch Public Review of Master Plan

Public Input Sought for Future Land Use, Transportation, Open Space and Recreation Plans

MONROE TOWNSHIP, February 27, 2020 – Mayor Gerald W. Tamburro announced at the Planning Board meeting Thursday that the Township will be re-opening the municipal master plan this summer and will launch a full public engagement and community-wide program to gain feedback.

“A thorough review of Monroe’s master plan is our community’s opportunity to voice what we all believe is the future of our hometown,” explained Mayor Tamburro. “This is our time to explore ways to control development, invest in traffic improvements and gain momentum on our march toward 50% preserved open space in the township for our residents and our future.”

Middlesex County Officials Help Advance Truck Ban Ordinance in Monroe

The County Concurs with Municipal Truck Ban; Sends Report to State DOT

MONROE TOWNSHIP – February 20, 2020 – Monroe Mayor Gerald W. Tamburro today announced that Middlesex County officials are recommending that the state approve a popular ordinance that bans heavy tractor-trailers from three residential roads along the Cranbury town line in Monroe.

State DOT Adds Left-Turn Arrow at Route-33, Applegarth Road and Butcher Road

Long-Sought Project Completed

MONROE TOWNSHIP – February 12, 2020 – Monroe Mayor Gerald W. Tamburro today announced that a major road improvement project on Route 33 is completed and fully operational.

“We have heard and responded to residents about the need for left-turn arrows on Route 33 and Applegarth Road and Butcher Road,” Mayor Tamburro said. “Because Route 33 is a state highway, we went to our state legislators and asked them to intervene and fast track the project with the state Department of Transportation.”
