**PLEASE NOTE: MIDDLESEX COUNTY HAS ASSIGNED 309 CASES TO MONROE TOWNSHIP. AS OF THE END OF DAY, APRIL 15.  

MONROE TOWNSHIP HAS CONFIRMED AND REPORTED 280 OF THESE AS MONROE TOWNSHIP RESIDENTS.  

29 OF THE CASES ASSIGNED TO MONROE ARE FROM OTHER MUNICIPALITIES. MONROE OEM HAS NOTIFIED THE COUNTY AND THE RESPECTIVE MUNICIPALITIES OF THE 29 CASES NOT IN MONROE.

Monroe Township Statistics: The following is a summary of the Monroe Township COVID-19 case data received from Middlesex County from March 14 to April 15. (Recovery data is not available at this time.)
TOTAL CASES: 280 as of April 15
MEN: 126 (45%) with an average age of 62 years old
WOMEN: 154 (55%) with an average age of 57 years old    

MyInstaDoc Testing Statistics:As of April 15, at the Monroe Township testing site, located at 298 Applegarth Road, they have tested 1,417 patients and 36.4% of the tests have come back positive. If you need a test, please visit their website at www.myinstadocmonroe.com.

DO YOU NEED TO BE TESTED?  COVID-19 DRIVE-THRU SATURDAY, APRIL 18 at MyInstaDoc, 298 Applegarth Road:  The facility will serve pre-registered patients only from 9am – 1pm and drive-up patients from 1pm – 3:30pm.  Testing will continue on Tuesday, April 21. Pre-register at www.myinstadocmonroe.comor call 609-207-3220.  

STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:  

  • As of 10 p.m. last night, 8,224 people are hospitalized with the virus or suspicion of it. Of those, 2,014 are in critical care and 1,645 on ventilators.
  • 82% of those in the ICU are on ventilators. A few days ago, the rate was hovering at 97%. 
  • New York is sending 100 ventilators to NJ to help with the coronavirus effort.
  • 46 patients are at one of our field medical stations.
  • 802 patients with the virus were discharged from hospitals.Since March 31st, over 8,000 NJ residents have been discharged from the hospital.
  • 54 of the 362 deaths were of individuals in long-term care facilities.
  • 379 long-term care facilities are reporting at least one case of COVID-19. 8,209 individuals in these facilities are reported to have COVID-19.

NJ DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES MENTAL HEALTH HELPLINE:  To help New Jerseyans in managing stressors during this time, the NJ Department of Human Services launched the NJ Mental Health Cares hotline at 866-202-HELP.

GOVERNOR MURPHY EXENDS SCHOOL CLOSURE THROUGH AT LEAST MAY 15:  New Jersey schools will be closed through at least May 15 because of the coronavirus pandemic, with the state’s 1.4 million students continuing to learn from home, Governor Phil Murphy announced today.  Read the full NJ.com article here.

FACE COVERING AVAILABLE AT MONROE STOP & SHOP:  

Workers and visitors in retail establishments are required by Executive Order from Governor Murphy to wear cloth face coverings while on the premises of any retail establishment. If a visitor refuses to wear a cloth face covering and if such covering cannot be provided by the business, then businesses must decline entry to the individual. Monroe Township OEM has issued over 2,000 pieces of PPE to the Monroe Stop & Shop.  Please request your face covering at the Courtesy Desk if needed.

SURVIVORS OF COVID-19: N.J. HOSPITAL WANTS TO TEST YOUR BLOOD FOR POTENTIAL LIFE-SAVING THERAPY:The plasma of COVID-19 patients could be a life-saving treatment for others. Hackensack University Medical Center has received approval from the federal government to begin recruiting recovered and recovering coronavirus patients to test for antibodies in their plasma, the liquid component in blood.
