STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:
- Governor Murphy: A technical issue may have prevented some cases from being counted, so the new positive case number may be artificially low.
- NJ hospitals currently have 978 patients being treated for COVID-19.
- 45 new COVID-19 hospitalizations and 70 discharges yesterday.
- 225 patients in either critical or intensive care; 82% on ventilators; 185 ventilators in use.
- The daily spot positivity rate for tests from June 25 was 1.92%; transmission rate of 0.86.
- “Compliance isn’t a polite suggestion. It is required,” said Governor Murphy. “Practice social distancing. Wash your hands. Wear your face covering – over your nose and mouth.”
GOVERNOR HAULTS INDOOR DINING REOPENING PLANS: Governor Murphy announced today that NJ will not reopen indoor dining this week as planned citing recent scenes of “packed crowds not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing” at expanded outdoor bars and restaurants. The canceled reopening includes wedding venues and banquet halls.
“Given the current situation in numerous other states we do not believe it is prudent at this time to push forward with what is, in effect, a sedentary indoor activity – especially when we know that this virus moves differently indoors than out, making it even more deadly,” Murphy said Monday at his regular COVID-19 briefing.
