Seven additional positive cases community-wide reported today were from March, May, June, July, August and September. 

MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TAMBURRO:

Special thanks to our Municipal Clerk and her team for all of their hard work on the 2020 election.  Thanks to our Library Director and her staff for hosting the municipal ballot drop box and the County voter information center.

Congratulations to all candidates who emerged victorious in VOTE 2020.  Let’s all work together for the betterment of our country, our state and our Township.

Please remember that we are still in the middle of a national pandemic and numbers of positive cases are climbing everywhere.  The second wave of coronavirus is here.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to wear masks, maintain 6 ft of social distance and wash hands regularly.  Adhere to CDC and NJDOH guidelines, avoid indoor gatherings and get your flu shot.   

The Monroe Township Library will remain closed, including the book return drop box. 

Late fees will not be charged during this time.  

Township officials were informed late Tuesday evening of a library employee who tested positive for COVID-19; preempting plans to resume curbside pick-up operations on Wednesday.Please be advised that the Monroe Township Library will remain closed while the additional testing, notifications and contact tracing is underway. Additional information will be provided, as necessary.

Monroe Township OEM Community Update

Following is an update on DPW and Monroe Township Library operations for the remainder of this week.

As previously reported, the Township closed its Department of Public Works after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, October 28. The DPW immediately suspended operations and began employee testing. Officials promptly disinfected all township buildings. In total, three public works employees tested positive for the virus. All three employees continue to be isolated and are recovering at home.

Beginning tomorrow, November 4, DPW will resume previously scheduled bulk pickups and leaf collection through the end of the month.  Out of an abundance of caution, the DPW yard will remain closed until further notice.  Please contact the Monroe Township DPW at 732-656-4575 for information regarding bulk and leaf pick-up.

Monroe Township OEM Community Update

Monroe Township remains committed to communicating with residents as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. The following is an update on township operations for the week of November 2, 2020.

On Wednesday, October 28, the Township announced the closure of DPW after a staff member tested positive for the virus. The Department of Public Works immediately suspended operations and began employee testing. Officials promptly began the disinfection and remediation protocol in all township buildings. As of today, 3 public works employees have tested positive for COVID-19. All three employees are recovering at home. We wish them all a speedy recovery. DPW will remain closed until we can safely reopen the yard, and other activities.

On Friday, October 30, it was established that a Monroe Library employee was significantly exposed to a confirmed positive individual. The building was closed immediately as staff members and the public were notified. Follow-up testing on library employees has not revealed any positive results at this time. Out of an abundance of caution, the Monroe Township Library circulation and operations will remain closed through Election Day.

We are vigilant in our efforts to identify and rapidly respond to any possibility of COVID-19 within our workforce. It is our highest priority to protect the health, safety and welfare of all township employees and residents.
