New COVID-19 Cases from August 14 – 16:  21F, 62M, 64M

STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS: 

  • NJ hospitals currently have 264 patients being treated for COVID-19.
  • 91 patients in either critical or intensive care; 38 ventilators in use; 41% on ventilators.
  • The daily spot positivity rate for tests from August 13 was 1.65%. Rate of transmission: 1.03

MIDDLESEX COUNTY CARES ACT SMALL BUSINESS RELIEF GRANT PROGRAM NOW AVAILABLE:  The C8173OVID-19 Small Business Relief Grant Program launched today.  Created to assist small businesses that have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus.  Through the program, Middlesex County intends to disburse a total of $30 million in grants for loss of revenue, verifiable expenses incurred, and/or continuation of services through the latest round of CARES Act Funds. Funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and capped at a total funding amount of $30,000 per application. The first eligibility period will be March 6 – July 31 with additional refunding periods being offered based on availability of funds.  Conditions must be met to qualify.  Visit www.middlesexcountynj.gov/mcsbrg for more information.

DPW CREWS WORKING HARD TO COLLECT STORM DEBRIS

DPW crews continue their hard work to safely clear debris resulting from Tropical Storm Isaias.  This collection process will take some time to complete given the broad range impact of the storm across Monroe Township.  Please deposit yard debris only at the curb through Friday, August 14.  Debris may be loose or in bio-degradable bags. No plastic bags accepted.  No household food products.  To help facilitate clean-up, the DPW yard will be open Friday from 10am – 2:45pm.  Yard hours also have been extended on Saturday, August 15 from 8am – 3pm for those who would like to drop off debris.

GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES PHASE ONE OF SMALL AND MICRO BUSINESS PPE ACCESS PROGRAM: Governor Murphy today announced the first phase of the New Jersey Small and Micro Business PPE Access Program, designed to ensure that the State’s small businesses and non-profits have access to the fairly priced personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary to facilitate safe working conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
