UTILITY ADMINSTRATIVE ASSISTANT (Full-Time)

General Description:

Under direction of the Utility Customer Service Manager, the Monroe Township Utility Department (MTUD) Administrative Assistant is responsible for completing a variety of routine, repetitive, noncomplex administrative tasks which involve computing, verifying and recording numerical data, and answering normal customer service related inquiries both over the phone and in person. Additionally, the Assistant will perform other related assignments as required.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:

· Knowledge of all Microsoft Office related products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook);

· Responsible to create, update and modify Access & Excel database programs as needed to track operational changes;

· Responsible to learn and utilize Utility specific programs;

· Handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence;

· Addresses water and wastewater customer calls, as well as general inquiry calls;

· Creates, assigns and tracks general water quality and wastewater work orders;

· Collects payments for services, penalty and interest charges verifies that entries, postings; and totals are accurate and supporting documents are correct;

· Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of MS Office (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook);

· Strong computer skills with ability to utilize various types of electronic equipment being used;

· Strong customer service skills;

· Must have good mathematical ability;

· Excellent communication skills with ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally;

· Proven ability to utilize and develop computerized spreadsheets and word processing applications;

· Ability to be entrusted with and maintain confidential and / or sensitive information;

· Ability to analyze conformity to policies and procedures;

· Ability to adhere to prescribed rules and regulations and other prescribed routines and practices;

· Ability to maintain records and files;

· Ability to function under pressure such as time limitations or intense public interest;

· Ability to prioritize, multi-task, be self-motivated, critical thinker, organized, detail-oriented and able to function efficiently within a fast paced and sometimes stressful environment;

· Ability to deal effectively and patiently with the general public, other Township employees including management and municipal officials in a pleasant, tactful, professional and efficient manner;

· Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships;

· Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

· Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods, bending and light lifting may also be required at times;

· Requires ability to handle vast typing and data entry while sitting at computer / workstation.

LICENSE, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

· Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent;

· Minimum five (5) years with office responsibilities including computers and experience in Customer Service.

Successful candidate must be eighteen (18) years of age or older and reside in New Jersey unless otherwise exempted by law and will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background / reference check.

Wages:

$50,052.00 as per Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
