ZERO NEW COVID-19 POSITIVE CASES REPORTED OVER FOUR-DAY PERIOD – JULY 24 – 27

   7275  MESSAGE FROM MAYOR GERALD W. TAMBURRO7274

Let me begin by thanking every single Monroe Resident for your diligence in helping to keep our community safe in this health emergency.  Your efforts are working and recent reports of known case-counts locally and across the state indicate continued progress.

Every day that we can report zero cases in Monroe Township is a step in the right direction.  This weekend, for example, we received zero new cases on Saturday and Sunday.

As a result of our efforts to stifle the spread of COVID-19, we have been able to gradually loosen some restrictions and carefully resume select services.

Over the past few weeks we have enjoyed the successful reopening of the Monroe Township Public Library for curbside pick-up as well as grab-and-go service.  We also have reopened the DPW yard with extended hours on Saturday for increased convenience.

Our Recreation department worked hard to develop programs that could function exclusively outdoors such as the wildly popular Drive-In Movie Nights at Thompson Park that will continue into August.

But we still receive reports of new cases from county health officials and our fight is far from over.  We must remain vigilant and not slip backward.

For the safety of all of our residents and to help limit the spread of the coronavirus across state lines, please be mindful of the travel advisory recently issued by Executive Order from Governor Murphy.  I implore you, if you choose to travel to one of the 31 states currently identified on the advisory, please follow the 14-day self-quarantine period regardless of your method of transportation and get tested.  Updates to the advisory are available at www.covid19.nj.gov.

7273Each of us has a responsibility to take the recommended safety precautions, including maintaining social distance and wearing a mask when in public, which is so very important.  And, by all means, stay home and call your doctor if you are ill.

We’ve achieved a lot but please do not be lulled into a false sense of security.  This virus remains a threat to each and every one of us.  Let’s all continue to maintain at least 6 ft. of social distance from others and wear a mask to stay safe.  Stay safe and well – WE ARE MONROE STRONG!
