Monroe Taxpayers Receive $700K in Green Energy Grants for Energy Efficiency

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. – January 23, 2023 – Monroe Township is taking advantage of incentive programs to “go green,” while addressing capital improvement needs at the Monroe Community Center and the Monroe Senior Center.

“The Community Center and Senior Center are two of the most popular facilities in our Township, so it is important that we maintain energy-efficient climate control within the buildings throughout the year,” said Mayor Stephen Dalina. “We are thankful for New Jersey Clean Energy programs like JCP&L’s Direct Install and PSE&G’ Clean Energy Future that allow us to make these capital improvements as budget-friendly as possible.”

JCP&L has approved the Township's application to replace the 14 roof-top HVAC units at the Monroe Community Center, 120 Monmouth Rd., under the “Direct Install” program administered by the state Board of Public Utilities.

Of the total project cost of $723,186, JCP&L will provide a grant of $578,549. The Township will only have to pay $144,637.25 over 60 monthly installments of $2,410.62 with no interest. Installation is expected later this year, once all materials have been received.

In addition, two replacement boilers have been installed at the Monroe Senior Center, 12 Halsey Reed Rd., under the “Clean Energy Future” program, administered through PSE&G. The total project cost is $117,912, but Monroe will only need to pay 27.2% of the cost, equal to $32,106, as part of the energy efficiency grant.
