Monroe Township Awarded $551K State Grant from NJDOT for Roadway and Pedestrian Improvements to Links Drive

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. – November 2, 2023 – The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) announced this week that Monroe Township will receive a $551,800 grant from the 2024 Municipal Aid Program for its Links Drive – Roadway & Pedestrian Improvements project.

“We are constantly monitoring the condition of our roadways to ensure the safety of motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians and all who travel through Monroe. Our roadway improvement program has been very successful over the past several years in identifying areas in need of repair and securing grants to fund these important upgrades,” said Mayor Stephen Dalina. “We are thankful to our legislators, including Senator Greenstein and Assemblymen DeAngelo and Benson, for their continued support in securing these funds.”

The funding will be utilized for roadway and pedestrian improvements along Links Drive. The scope of work includes restoration of the roadway via milling/paving, concrete sidewalk replacement, curbing, ADA compliant curb ramps, drainage improvements and safety improvements for pedestrian/golf cart crossings.

NJDOT’s Municipal Aid Program is a very competitive program intended to provide municipalities with transportation-based grants to supplement their transportation programs. Each fiscal year, the NJDOT issues a solicitation announcement to municipalities inviting them to apply for funding for their specific project needs. Projects are presented to a screening committee comprised of municipal engineers and NJDOT staff appointed by the Commissioner. The committee evaluates the projects presented and makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Transportation for consideration and approval.
