COVID-19 Cases received Tuesday, May 19:  6 New Positive Cases

91 Female; 27 Male; 75 Male; 53 Female; 81 Male; 69 Female

STATE AND NJDOH STATISTICS:  

  • NJ hospitals currently have 3,405 patients being treated for COVID-19.This is less than ½ of what it was 4 weeks ago. 
  • 261 new hospitalizations and 282 patients were discharged from the hospital yesterday.
  • 969 patients in either critical or intensive care; 750 ventilators currently in use.
  • The daily positivity rate for tests from May 16thwas 18 percent.
  • “The curve continues to move in the right direction overall,” said Governor Murphy. “Metrics in our hospitals are down significantly since their peak.There has been a steady progression across the past 2 weeks. But we all still have a lot of work to do. We can’t move forward unless we’re confident that doing so won’t move us backward.Let’s keep it up.” 
  • 15 cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children - no deaths reported.
  • Ages of children affected range from 2-18.11 out of the 15 have tested positive for COVID-19.4 are currently hospitalized.  
  • The rate of new cases at our long-term care facilities continues downward from the peak. We’ll keep working to push this curve lower.The numbers of lab-confirmed deaths associated with our long-term care facilities are also decreasing from the peak.
