ZERO POSITIVE CASES REPORTED IN MONROE ON THURSDAY MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TAMBURRO

5292

Today we reached a positive milestone in our fight against COVID-19 - we are reporting ZERO new cases for Thursday, May 29.

Make no mistake, this pandemic has caused plenty of sacrifice in all corners of Monroe Township. But I know that, together, we have acted in a way that saved many lives and we will see our way through this as a community. I am proud to say Monroe was among the first communities in the state to shut down in the wake of this pandemic. And over the past two months, we have seen the importance of an organized emergency response and the efforts of our residents to be disciplined to protect each other. I believe it has made all the difference, preventing what could have been much worse.

We continue to face an unprecedented challenge ahead. Moving forward, we know that there will be additional positive cases and deaths, but what we are doing is making a difference.

The Governor has encouraged residents to get tested as this will help mitigate spread of this disease and give county and state health officials stronger data with which to make better decisions in the best interests of the community at large.

Across NJ, we see the data trends heading in the right direction and we are optimistic that we’ll be able to start slowly and strategically reopening in accordance with directives from the Governor’s Office.

Like you, I am eager for life to get back closer to normal. In the meantime, it remains critically important that we hold fast in our social distancing efforts and wear masks in public.

I want to be clear-we still have a very long road ahead of us, but I want to personally thank each and every member of the Monroe Township community for doing their part in keeping your family, friends and neighbors safe. This surely has been a Team Monroe effort and I am proud of you.

-Mayor Tamburro
