MESSAGE FROM MAYOR TAMBURRO: 

Monroe, 

With limited testing right now—it is hard to understand the true community spread of COVID-19 here in Monroe.  I hope that testing really expands and hospital capacity too, but until then, we are in for an extended period of staying home and social distancing.

This is certainly getting hard.  And we (Monroe) were one of the first communities in the nation to shut down activities, programs, and common public spaces so it feels even longer for all of us.  In fact, it has been longer for us in Monroe – but I am confident that our hard work will ultimately save lives, our lives, our neighbors lives, and our children’s lives. 

LATEST STATE/COUNTY UPDATES:  

The latest statistics related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus from Governor Murphy’s office this afternoon includes 4,372 new positive test results in New Jersey for a statewide total of 29,895.  There are 113 new reported deaths for a total of 646. Middlesex County reports 359 new cases for a total of 2,125 positive cases.  The state has announced that Middlesex County has 56 deaths to date.  Monroe Township has been notified of 10 new cases today, of which one patient is in the hospital and the remainder are recovering in self-quarantine at home.  Monroe now has a total of 125 positive cases.

MESSAGE FROM MTPD CHIEF & OEM COORDINATOR BIENNAS: 

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Monroe Township community for answering our call earlier in the week seeking donations of Personal Protective Equipment.  We received an abundance of well needed supplies from residents and businesses alike. It’s refreshing to know that we can always count on the Monroe Township community to pull together under difficult circumstances,” said Chief of Police and Coordinator of the Office of Emergency Management, Michael Biennas.  “In the same vein as the community rallied to provide supplies, I am imploring all residents to do what is being asked now:  STAY AT HOME.  We need to maintain adequate social distances and refrain from social gatherings. During this public health emergency, my officers are prepared to curtail all gatherings until this order is lifted – not because we want to but because we have to - for the safety of all.”

LATEST STATE/COUNTY UPDATES:

The latest statistics related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus from Governor Murphy’s office this afternoon includes 3,489 new positive test results in New Jersey for a statewide total of 25,590. There are 182 new reported deaths, a 51% increase, for a total of 537. Middlesex County reports 273 new cases for a total of 1,766 positive cases. The state has announced that Middlesex County has 48 deaths to date. Monroe Township has been notified of 10 new cases today, of which four patients are in the hospital and the remainder are recovering in self-quarantine at home. Monroe now has a total of 115 positive cases.

Following is a summary of the Monroe Township COVID-19 case data received from Middlesex County since March 14^th. Again, please note that recovery data is not available at this time.

Total cases: 115 in Monroe as of April 2

Men: 49 (43%), Average Age: 63

Women: 66 (57%), Average Age: 51

MyInstaDoc STATISTICS: As of today, MyInstaDoc, has told us that they have completed 813 COVID-19 tests for which they have received 693 results. 24% of the 693 have tested positive since testing began on Friday, March 20. These results reflect patients from Monroe and neighboring municipalities.
