Monroe Township Assists Residents in Recovery Efforts Following Tropical Storm Henri

Mayor Dalina Announces Library Will Head Community Donation Relief Fund for Impacted Monroe Residents

MONROE TOWNSHIP– August 24, 2021 – Following Tropical Storm Henri that deluged nine inches ofConstruction and Code Officials in Rossmoor Following Henri rain from Sunday through Monday, Mayor Dalina has taken actions listed below to assist impacted Monroe residents:  

  • Township staff, led by the building and code department, have been working day and night since Sunday, along with JCP&L to restore power and air conditioning to as many affected residents as quickly as possible. This operation will continue; however, some locations will need some additional work before power can be restored.
  • The Department of Public Works has begun clearing debris placed on the curb by flooded residents and will be doing this throughout the week. As a reminder, DPW cannot collect food trash or hazardous materials but can collect flood-damaged appliances.
  • The Monroe Township Library today established a Community Donation Relief Fund where monetary donations and gift cards are being collected that will be equitably distributed to residents of Rossmoor and other locations in the township where people were impacted by the storm.

       Community members interested in donating cash, checks or gift cards for grocery stores, home                                 improvement stores, etc. may either drop off or mail to the library attention: Friends of the Monroe                         Township Library (501c3), 4 Municipal Plaza. 

       Residents impacted by the storm that need this monetary assistance may contact the library at                                 732-521-5000.    

  • Monroe Township Office of Emergency Management is establishing a command center within the Rossmoor community. On Friday, Monroe OEM will host a resource and assistance fair from 9am – 1pm at the Rossmoor clubhouse. Anyone that experienced flooding in Monroe Township is welcomed to attend. Representatives from recovery organizations and assistance groups as well as non-profit organizations have been invited to attend.  More information to follow.
